The Faculty at Radcliffe Humanities

The Philosophy Faculty moved into the Radcliffe Humanities building on the Woodstock Road in 2012. Most of the Faculty’s administrative staff are based on the first floor and are happy to answer enquiries concerning the Faculty and facilities in the building. Many of the Faculty's lectures and classes also take place in the building, in the Lecture Room or Ryle Room.

The Radcliffe Humanities building is open from 8.00am to 7.00pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday during Full Term (8.00am to 5.00pm in other weeks). Full details of the library's specific opening hours are available here.

Wheelchair access to Radcliffe Humanities is available through the front automated doors. Detailed information about the University's Common Framework for disability can be found at https://academic.admin.ox.ac.uk/common-framework-for-supporting-disabled-students.

Further information and advice are available from the Disability Advisory Service, and the Disability Lead for the Philosophy Faculty is Sarah Hepworth (sarah.hepworth@tss.ox.ac.uk).

The Philosophy Library is the principal source of philosophy books for loan in the University, complementing the more extensive reference collection of the Bodleian Library. The Philosophy Library holds over 27,000 books and periodicals, plus reading lists and examination papers, and offers informed access to many reference sources and databases such as the Philosophers’ Index. The University’s own library catalogue, OLIS, is networked through the University and can be accessed via SOLO, the search and discovery tool for the Oxford Libraries.

Academic visitors and graduate students can borrow books and periodicals; undergraduates may borrow books only. Click here for more borrowing details. A University Card is required for access to the Library.
