British Academy International Fellowships

The next round of the British Academy International Fellowships scheme is due to open in January 2025, with a deadline in March, and expressions of interest are therefore invited from suitably qualified candidates in the early stages of their career who wish to be based in the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Oxford.

The International Fellowships are two-year awards aimed at supporting researchers to gain research experience across international borders. The eligibility requirements are complex, and you are advised to read the Academy's guidance notes carefully in order to confirm your eligibility before submitting your expression of interest. The requirements include that you:

  • have a PhD or are in the final stages of your PhD;
  • have normally no more than seven years of full-time postdoc experience, including teaching experience;
  • do not hold UK citizenship;
  • have not lived or worked in the UK in the 12 months prior to the application deadline;
  • and are not applying to return to where you completed your doctorate or to work with your previous supervisor.
