Post-Kantian European Philosophy Seminar (Tuesday - Week 6, TT21)

Bergson’s philosophy of memory continues to receive scant attention, despite the fact that memory is a hot topic in the philosophy of mind, and it is hard to find anyone in the history of philosophy who has said more on this topic than Bergson. The broader aim of this talk is to show that his philosophy of memory is worthy of interest. The narrower aim is to consider whether he should be understood as a naïve realist about memory. Along the way, there will be discussion of brain lesions, hypnotic suggestion, and philosophical catoptrics.
