Moral Philosophy Seminar (Monday - Week 8, HT21)

moral philosophy

It seems that people typically want to die further rather than less far in the future. But it also seems that people typically do not want to have been created further rather than less far in the past. This typical desire-lack-of-desire complex seems rationally justified. But what makes it rationally justified? This question is Lucretius’ Puzzle. In this talk, I argue that the main solutions to the Puzzle that philosophers have proposed fail. I then defend a solution of my own.

The Seminar is going to be held via Microsoft teams. Please email one of the convenors below if you would like to attend.
