Admission for entry in October 2025 is currently OPEN. Information on the application deadline can be found here.
For all graduate courses in the Faculty of Philosophy, applications (including all supporting material) must be submitted by the closing date, for admission in the following October. Applicants are not normally interviewed and late applications will not be considered.
The online application form along with all the information you will need to make your application is available from the Applying to Oxford website.
Candidates must be accepted by the Philosophy Graduate Studies Committee (“PGSC”) and then by a college. You can state a college preference on your application form or, if you have no particular preference, the Graduate Admissions system will assign a college to you depending on college availability. Stating a college preference or letting the system assign you a college will not affect how we assess your application. It is not necessary to apply to the college of a particular academic by whom you hope to be supervised. Your supervisor will be appointed by the PGSC, and will not necessarily be a member of the college which admits you. For further information about choosing a college please consult the College Guide.
Successful applicants will be notified of their offer of admission by early March. An Open Day for all admitted students is likely to be held at the Philosophy Faculty later that month; if your application is successful, you will receive further information about the Open Day alongside your offer.
For an application to be considered, it needs to be complete with all required supporting documents and be received by the Graduate Admissions Office by the specified deadline.
